Anna & Caleb | The Venue At The Edge
The weather this time of year in Ky is so unpredictable.. and most the time when it says it will rain, it means the sun will most likely come out at *some* point. But, on Saturday, the weather decided to stay true to the forecast, adding a little bit of excitement to the day.. the electric actually went off at one point! Thankfully, there was a generator and it came back on seconds later!
After all the wedding planning craziness that Anna has gone through, a little electricity problem was nothing.. actually, every obstacle that has been thrown her way, she has rolled with it. I’m not sure how she stayed sane through everything! I admire this girl’s joyful, sweet spirit so much!
Covid had me rescheduling couples left and right and then something I prayed would never happen, happened. Her new date fell on a day of one of my other couples.. and the funniest part.. both couples are friends! 🤣
In true Anna spirit though, she handled it so effortlessly. She said she trusted me and not for a second did she feel worried. As such an integral part of this huge milestone, it is my job to serve and love my couples well. I take on each wedding day like they are my own.. and I get so close to each bride – so when this happened, I was heartbroken.
So what happened next? Well, thank goodness for having a pretty awesome photography community… in these cases, we can then hire a lead shooter.. they get to serve and love our couples day of the wedding by capturing & being a part of all the sweet memories for that day, then the original hired photography (me) does all the backend work like editing, timelines, planning, engagement session, etc. I can’t even begin to explain how hard it was not being there for the day.. but God crossed mine and Meredith Dickens‘ paths & I am eternally grateful. She loved Anna and Caleb as if they were her own couple, she made their experience so amazing and showed them all kinds of neat things you can do for portraits.. IN THE DARK. I normally don’t share iPhone shots here but for the sake of the day, I have to! If you are reading this, and you are wedding vendor shopping, keep things like these in mind because in the event of a pandemic, a power outage, changing venues, and so many more hiccups, you want someone who can get through these obstacles with you and still have your back through it all!
The bonus, one of my main right hands got to assist with this day.. so between Meredith and Sarah, I felt like I was there the entire time! 💗
Wait until you see how stunning Anna was! Beautiful inside and out!
The Venue At The Edge is a new venue just outside Ashland, Kentucky and I can tell you right now, it is going to be one of the most popular spots for weddings and other events.. it is already in my top favorites in our area – especially since it has the most beautiful, light colored, bridal suite for those sweet bridal portraits and the best hangout area for the groomsmen filled with leather sofas, a flat screen tv and of course, a pool table!
Although it houses several hundred people, Anna & Caleb opted to keep it small, just to be safe, while using a streaming service to live stream the ceremony!
They said their ‘I dos’ among close family and a few friends (plus those who opted to join in live), smashed some cake – wait until you see all the cake pop flavors 😍 – then laughed the night away through one heck of a dance party! It seems that Caleb kept getting the giggles and I’m not complaining – every picture of him laughing is infectious!
Anna & Caleb, thank you so much for trusting Meredith, Sarah and I with your best day! We are so happy for you and wish you a lifetime of love, happiness and so much laughter 🙂
