Congratulations to Mackenzie and Travis! Their classic Old Wide Awake wedding day in Charleston SC was so dreamy and I can’t wait for you to see it. Every detail of this beautiful celebration was so carefully planned and executed so well, it was a joy to witness and photograph.
One thing that stood out to me about Mackenzie and Travis’ wedding day was the amount of love you could feel. Unfortunately, Mackenzie has lost both of her parents. Her Aunt and Uncle took her in as their own – and they were the ones that Mackenzie and Travis leaned on while planning the wedding. I loved watching Mackenzie and her Aunt Rhonda throughout the planning process. The amount of love that they have between them is just so beautiful and I’m thrilled that they’ve had each other for many years. During the ceremony, Mackenzie was walked down the aisle by her uncle Preston and her stepfather, which was beautiful too. Finally, Mackenzie’s aunt and uncle are good friends with Old Wide Awake’s planner and manager, Margaret, so it was just one more way that their day felt special! It was truly a day of celebrating family and friends. I loved hearing about the ways that this family has grown close during the speeches at their reception, too. There were definitely lots of laughs – and tears – but it was so, so beautiful and a reminder about loving those around us.
Mackenzie and Travis chose stunning classic details for their wedding day. Mackenzie’s dress was absolutely perfect! She reminded me of Marilyn Monroe! I loved the cut of her gown and she had her hair up in a beautiful updo all day. She looked incredible!! Travis looked wonderful in a white tux jacket, too. It felt so elegant and classic – and I’m obsessed with how they looked together in their portraits. Mackenzie carried an all-white bouquet down the aisle for their ceremony on the moss covered steps at Old Awake. It was SO elegant! And then their party? Oh my gosh, it was amazing. Everyone was so into dancing and even busted out some timeless moves like the shopping cart and sprinkler. It was a blast. Mackenzie and Travis ended the night in a vintage 1965 Mustang Cobra – the only thing Travis really requested for the day. It was seriously the perfect ending!
When I think back on Mackenzie and Travis’ wedding day, something else that stood out to me was the kind words they shared with each other. Mackenzie and Travis are so sweet – and definitely made for each other. I wanted to share a little of what they had to say on the biggest day of their lives because it was so incredible to hear.
From Mackenzie’s vows: Travis I realized I loved you early on in our relationship: your charming smile, witty personality, intelligent mind and endless patience and forgiveness all swept me off my feet. At first, I was hesitant to open up and let you into some of my deepest sadness, but the more time spent together, I felt a sense of peace with you. You showed me that when I let you into the darkest parts of my life, you were not going to run away & instead you were going to celebrate with me the joyful memories and hold me during the hard ones.
From Travis’ vows: I believe God crossed our paths for a reason. They say opposites attract, and while I would argue & say we are the same, you keep our lives in order while I wander around in chaos. But somehow amidst the chaos, we found harmony. Mackenzie, I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t dream about this moment with you from that time I laid eyes on you. Today I stand here in awe at the amazing, smart, beautiful woman you are and how blessed I am that you chose me.
Congratulations again, Mackenzie and Travis! I’m so happy for you two!!
