A couple months ago, Katy called me after a Google search for a Charleston wedding photographer. Her bubbly personality had me nodding my head yes to being her wedding photographer within the first 7 seconds. Little did I know, the infectious energy & love of this couple was the exact thing I needed during this busy season of life and weddings. Katy and Chris planned a gorgeous Charleston wedding at Planter’s Inn. It was beautiful, full of love and energy and just a simply joyful day.
If you have ever spoken to me about your wedding, you know that I LOVE “how we met” & proposal stories. As you dig deep into each story, you start to peel back layers. These layers that start to tell me who you are both individually and as a couple.
On their first date, Katy and Chris had low expectations on finding love during a pandemic. They simply needed to socialize face to face in a world filled with masks, computer screens and a lot of social distancing. Yet here we are, a year and a half later, celebrating their wedding at The Planters Inn in Charleston, SC!
One of my favorite parts of their first date was this: “We talked each other’s heads off and said pretty much anything that was on our minds, and it just clicked, we finished the night walking around on the Atlanta Beltline, holding hands while we gave each other personality tests…ya know, just two skeptical people trying to find the flaws.” Ha! We all are skeptics – and I do love a good personality quiz!
Katy and Chris chose the brightest florals and details for their Charlston wedding day. I was kind of obsessed with how Katy’s baby blue shoes looked next to her bouquet of bright pink and orange florals! She and Chris met for a sweet first look in the courtyard, just steps from where they would tie the knot.
The newlyweds kept their wedding day intimate – with only their parents in attendance. With siblings & their sweet newborn nieces watching from afar, Katy & Chris said their I do’s in the courtyard at The Planters Inn between two palm trees underneath a cloudless sky. As if that wasn’t beautiful enough, ust as the sun rose high in the sky, Katy & Chris officially became husband and wife.
After a weekend of cold, wind and rain, I was so ready for this jubilant day adorned with sun as we captured both Katy & Chris’ love story in the historic & charming city of Charleston! After their ceremony, they enjoyed a cake cutting and toasts with their parents before exploring the historic city and colorful streets of Charleston with me.
Mr. & Mrs. Wilson, Congratulations again!!! Thank you so much for letting me hang out (and take some pictures) with you for your intimate wedding day!
