Olivia & Andrew’s microwedding at Old Wide Awake was supposed to look quite a bit different but, despite all the obstacles from hurricane Ian, they decided to stay through the storm so that they could have their imperfectly perfect day.
When I arrived to their wedding venue, it was a much different “feeling” than the norm. The bridesmaids were so relaxed & Olivia had such a calming presence. You never would’ve guessed the stress that she must have felt as she watched the weather channel leading up to her wedding day!
A difficult decision had to be made, but Olivia and Andrew ultimately chose to move forward with a micro ceremony and to push the reception / larger wedding ceremony to a later date… which ended up being a bittersweet resolution because it allowed the two to be fully present with each other, even if they couldn’t be with everyone.
As ceremony prep began, sun dappled the tree lined entrance leading to this historic home. The grand staircase adorned with ivy served as the iconic & timeless ceremony backdrop. As the groomsmen walked in, Andrew greeted each with a hug, wiping tears away as the emotion of the day settled in. And when he saw his bride, this sweet groom didn’t hold his emotions back.
Surrounded by their parents, their sweet grandmas, siblings and friends, they shared their first kiss as husband and wife. And in a month or so, Old Wide Awake will open its gates so that we can celebrate them again with all of their family and friends!!
So here’s to the two of you – in all seasons of life, may you embrace the storm, ride the waves, dance in the rain, and know that the sun will come out tomorrow (quite literally in the aftermath of Ian!)
